MCC launching RISE program for adult students

July 29, 2024

McLennan Community College is accepting applications through Aug. 9 for the first cohort of RISE (Resilience Inspiring Student Excellence), a Title V grant-funded program designed to provide enrichment opportunities that foster resilience, a sense of belonging and a unique academic experience for students ages 25 and older.

The program, open to part-time and full-time MCC students, will provide one-on-one mentoring, small group mentoring, personal success coaching and personal development workshops.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this incredible mentorship opportunity to our MCC students who are 25 or older,” Title V Grant Project Director Marianna Hampton said. “We understand that being an adult learner can come with a unique set of challenges and the RISE program will provide support and resources to help our adult students succeed both in and out of the classroom.”

RISE is a component of McLennan Community College's Title V Grant: Cultivating Student Success with Growth Mindset Intervention. The percentage of funding for the program is 100% from the federal government. The dollar amount of funding for the grant given by the Federal Government is $2,660,977, and the total percentage and dollar amount of the project's total costs financed by non-government sources are currently $0 and 0%.

MCC students interested in joining the program should apply by Aug. 9 at www.mclennan.edu/rise/index.html.
